A Little Behind...

Not much to report. Besides this sinus issue/cold I am fighting at this moment, I have been feeling well. I am feeling Madeleine move quite a bit inside of me. Some days I feel her more than others. She seems to really like orange juice and also pineapple juice because she goes crazy right after I drink it. One day I had just gotten finished drinking a cup of each, and my belly felt like I was on a roller coaster. It is so amazing! Nick was actually able to feel her move last night. That was really cool!
I go for another doctor's appointment next Thursday. I am assuming she will go over the results from the "20-week" ultrasound. I am guessing that everything was alright because I have never heard anything, and my doctor always says she will call if anything was wrong.

Well, I'll leave you with some photos....

18 weeks-

Please excuse the way I look...early in the morning and on my way to work.

Close-up

This picture was taken at my friend Jen's Bachelorette party. I met Jen on the peds floor where we use to work, and she is now marrying my brother-in-law Travis. She had her B-party had this place called Xpose (chair and pole dancing). Yum, yeah, that was very interesting! She was the only one out of all of us that knew what she was doing. Needless to say, the rest of us just cracked up the whole time! I was 19-weeks in this photo.

20 weeks-

Thought this was a cool picture!

One more.....
Milo
It just cracks us up when we see him laying with his paws crosses like this. He does it quite often.

We Are Having A...

We went to our doctor's appointment not sure whether or not we were going to get to find out the sex of our baby today. Everything went well. The heartbeat was nice and strong. My blood work for the genetic workup was normal. My platelet count was 150. Dr. A was fine with that but wants to watch my platelet count throughout the pregnancy. She gave us a form to have the ultrasound done in the office sometime next week. Well, the front desk lady said nothing was available until the week after next. I was thinking that I cannot wait that long! Then the lady says that we can go to an Advance Radiology office and not wait to do it at my doctor's office.

So...that's exactly what we did! We were able to get an appointment for the ultrasound for that afternoon...thank you, God! We have the ultrasound and saw that we have a VER ACTIVE baby! The baby was moving all around inside of me. Then we saw that we are having a.....

GIRL!!!!!

Yea! We are SO EXCITED!!!!!

We already have a name picked out for sure, too.

I'll post an updated picture tomorrow of my belly when I am exactly 18 weeks.

16 Weeks

I am 16 weeks today, and so far, so good. I had blood drawn earlier today for the maternal serum screen and also to check my platelets. When I went to my primary care doctor last year, she discovered that I had low platelets. I had three blood draws within a 3 month time span, and my platelets ranged fron 120 to 149. Normal starts at 150. Most people's platelet count is in the 200 to 300's. When I had my blood drawn at my first ob visit, my count was 156 (normal, but low-normal). So, I guess she wants to watch that.
I am feeling pretty good...just really tired in the late afternoon to early evening. I think work wipes me out. I joined the gym. It is so hard to get motivated to workout! It is so weird going to the gym and looking at everyone getting into shape! In my head, I am thinking here are these people working out to loose weight and/or tone up, and I am working out knowing that I will only be putting on weight over the next 5 months (for a good reason, obviously). I am trying to tone up my legs and butt, though.
I guess that is about it. Here are pics of me at 16 weeks (the quality sucks cuz I took them myself).....

Here is a pic of my sweet Milo. He went to doggy daycare today and is now knocked out. Doggy daycare is a great way to wear him out!

14 weeks

Well, I am 14 weeks today. Nick and I went to the doctor yesterday and heard our baby's heartbeat! It was bittersweet! We are so excited! I just pray that God continues to let our baby grow healthy while inside of me! I have gained 8 pounds since I first found out. According to my lovely husband, I am gaining some weight in my thighs and butt (UGH, thanks)! I go back to the doctor the first week of March. Looks like we may get to find out if we are having a boy or girl right around that time. I will keep you posted! Leaving you with 14 week pictures (can't see too much, but maybe a little)...

Holding Steady

Not too much going on my way. Besides feeling tired in the evenings, I am feeling pretty good. I will be 14 weeks on Friday....where does time go?! I have my second doctors appointment tomorrow, so I will let you know how that goes. Dr. A said that we will listen for the heartbeat! YEA!! I did not have the first trimester genetics screening done last week because my insurance would not cover it unless it was a "medical necessity." Nick and I decided not to pay (all that $$$) out of pocket since there is no history on either side. Plus, if there is/was an issue, we would keep the baby anyway, no doubts about it!

On another note, Nick is renovating our kitchen right now. I will post pics of that soon...just need to take some! He still has a little ways to go in there. Our old kitchen is still in use...just no oven or kitchen sink. We are washing our dishes in the bathroom sink for now. I CANNOT WAIT for our new kitchen to be completed!!!!

YEA for the Pittsburg STEELERS!!!

Welcome, Otto Benson!

Congrats to our really good friends, Adam and Julia, on the birth of their son Otto Benson! He was born this past Wednesday, January 21st. He is sooo precious! You guys will make wonderful parents. Thank you for giving us the honor to be his godparents!!! Picture to come when I get home today...
Well, I noticed they haven't post pics yet, so I'll wait until after they do.

Good-bye, First Trimester, Hello, Second!

Wow... I cannot believe I am already 12 weeks today and beginning my second trimester! My first trimester went fairly well....just a little nausea here and there (nothing a little snack wouldn't take care of). My appetite has been really good from about 5 weeks on. I have gained about 4 1/2 pounds so far. I had Nick take a picture of my belly this morning, and well, there still really isn't one. I think the weight might be going to my butt, though (ahg)! I will post that picture up later today when I get home from work.

Now, going into my second trimester, I have started with this dang headache. I had one from the time I woke yesterday morning until I went to bed last night, and then I woke up with it again today. At this very moment, I think it may be gone! I am awfully forgetful lately, too.

I am going for the first trimester genetic screening (which they do between 10-13 weeks) on this coming Tuesday. Did anyone else have this done...where they draw blood and do an ultrasound? I'll let you all know how it goes!
****UPDATE*****
This is at just over 4 weeks, right after we found out...won't ever see that waist anymore.
Nick took these pictures this morning...12 weeks...not much change.
Maybe a tiny pooch....Baby S, you better still be growing in there!!!
When did any of you guys start showing?

Go STEELERS!!

Beat the Ravens!! Yes, I live in Baltimore and not a Ravens fan. Growing up in the south, I never really followed NFL...more college football. So, I never had a favorite NFL team. UNTIL...I met Nick, and he got me hooked on the Pittsburg Steelers. Nick grew up in western Maryland, and people from there tend to follow the Steelers and not the Ravens. Western Maryland is closer to Pittsburg then to Baltimore. So, her we go, Steelers, here we go!

The Back Bedroom

Everyone always asked me where Nick and I slept while we were working on our bedroom. Well, this is it (minus the green carpet)...

I am taking thins picture from the doorway into the room. Beautiful, ah?

This is the closet in the bedroom. Tiny!

I have not decided whether or not to make this the baby's room/guest room until we get a 3rd bedroom and that will not be for a while because we want to finish the rest of the house. I probably will do that, and the baby can just sleep in our room when guest are here. So, here is what the room looks like now. Boy or girl, the paint is staying this color!

This picture is dark so it is hard to see the paint color. This pic was taken as (obviously) Nick was finishing up the floors.

As for this very moment, we are storing our couch in this room. It matches perfectly with the paint, don't ya think?! : )

The entrance into the room...we do still have to put a door and door frame up.

Nick built that cute little bookshelf and put it in the wall there. You see, behind that bookshelf use to be part of the closet and was very hard to even get to. So, instead of wasting the space, we put that bookshelf there. Now, the closet still has to be built. It is still tiny, but Nick is going to build another shelf for inside the closet, right behind the one in the wall there. Not sure if this is all making sense or not. I will post pictures of it when it is finished and that probably won't be until sometime late spring or early summer. As you can see, the room is almost finished.

Sleeping In

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend so far! Football playoffs are in full swing...Go Steelers! I know people around my area are estatic that the Ravens beat Tennessee. Our weekend has been quite busy. The hubby is in full swing with our soon-to-be new kitchen. Of course, we still have a lot to do. I will get some pics when daylight hits and post them later. Anyway, on to the point of this post.....
I think my days of sleeping are over, people! Since I found out I was pregnant, I have been waking up before or around dawn. I cannot even remember the last time I slept into at least 8 AM. Not to mention actually sleeping THROUGH the night. My body has been waking me up anywhere between 4:15 Am and 7:15 AM. I guess it is preparing me for what is to come. Anyone else have this issue when they were pregnant? Just curious!
Oh yeah, on another note, the television show 24 starts tonight!!! YEA!!!!

First Doctor's Appointment

I went for my first doctor's appointment today. I LOVE my doctor!! She is so sweet!! I am so glad to have choosen her (thank you, Jenn M.). Everything looks great! My "estimated" due date from the ultrasound is now August 7th, 2009! This is now starting to feel a little more real. I am getting more excited about it! Anyway, we go back in 4 weeks (I'll be 14 weeks). Dr. A said that at the next visit we will get to hear the heartbeat. Of course, there's that small part of me that is still a little scared since I am only in my 1st trimester. It is all in God's hands!

Oh Yeah...

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!! Hope 2009 brings you all great blessings!

The New Masterbath

Our masterbath is small, but it is WAY better than the old bathroom!

That's a window there behind the brown blind.

The toilet.

Taking the picture from the doorway.

The shower...notice the awesome body sprays that the hubby put in. The bathroom still needs some minor work, such as a shower door (we are using a curtain for now), some trim work, etc. All this has been put on hold while we (or should I say mostly the husband) gets the bigger things done before August!!

The 2nd Floor Bathroom

These are pictures of what use to be the 2nd floor bathroom. We turned it into our "master bathroom" even though it is SO small. The door into this bathroom was close up and you now enter the bathroom through our bedroom/closet.

Long time, no post

It's been a LONG while since my last post. We have done quite a bit to the house since and still have a ways to go. I will post some new photos soon. The BIGGEST news since I last posted is that Nick and I are expecting our first child sometime around the beginning of August. I had my first sonogram today and saw the baby and heartbeat. That was VERY exciting! I will go for my first doctor's appt. on this Thursday. You see, I had the WORST gas pain (I think) last night and this morning, so I called the doctor to see if she could see me today instead of Thursday. She was booked but had me go ahead and get the sonogram done. So far, so good. Thus far, I am 9 weeks and 5 days today. I have been VERY FORTUNATE not to have horrible morning sickness! Thank you, God!! Just a little nausea here and there. Nothing a small snack and Ginger Ale can't fix. Well, I'll let you know how the appt. goes on Thursday.
