16 Weeks

I am 16 weeks today, and so far, so good. I had blood drawn earlier today for the maternal serum screen and also to check my platelets. When I went to my primary care doctor last year, she discovered that I had low platelets. I had three blood draws within a 3 month time span, and my platelets ranged fron 120 to 149. Normal starts at 150. Most people's platelet count is in the 200 to 300's. When I had my blood drawn at my first ob visit, my count was 156 (normal, but low-normal). So, I guess she wants to watch that.
I am feeling pretty good...just really tired in the late afternoon to early evening. I think work wipes me out. I joined the gym. It is so hard to get motivated to workout! It is so weird going to the gym and looking at everyone getting into shape! In my head, I am thinking here are these people working out to loose weight and/or tone up, and I am working out knowing that I will only be putting on weight over the next 5 months (for a good reason, obviously). I am trying to tone up my legs and butt, though.
I guess that is about it. Here are pics of me at 16 weeks (the quality sucks cuz I took them myself).....

Here is a pic of my sweet Milo. He went to doggy daycare today and is now knocked out. Doggy daycare is a great way to wear him out!

14 weeks

Well, I am 14 weeks today. Nick and I went to the doctor yesterday and heard our baby's heartbeat! It was bittersweet! We are so excited! I just pray that God continues to let our baby grow healthy while inside of me! I have gained 8 pounds since I first found out. According to my lovely husband, I am gaining some weight in my thighs and butt (UGH, thanks)! I go back to the doctor the first week of March. Looks like we may get to find out if we are having a boy or girl right around that time. I will keep you posted! Leaving you with 14 week pictures (can't see too much, but maybe a little)...

Holding Steady

Not too much going on my way. Besides feeling tired in the evenings, I am feeling pretty good. I will be 14 weeks on Friday....where does time go?! I have my second doctors appointment tomorrow, so I will let you know how that goes. Dr. A said that we will listen for the heartbeat! YEA!! I did not have the first trimester genetics screening done last week because my insurance would not cover it unless it was a "medical necessity." Nick and I decided not to pay (all that $$$) out of pocket since there is no history on either side. Plus, if there is/was an issue, we would keep the baby anyway, no doubts about it!

On another note, Nick is renovating our kitchen right now. I will post pics of that soon...just need to take some! He still has a little ways to go in there. Our old kitchen is still in use...just no oven or kitchen sink. We are washing our dishes in the bathroom sink for now. I CANNOT WAIT for our new kitchen to be completed!!!!

Welcome, Otto Benson!

Congrats to our really good friends, Adam and Julia, on the birth of their son Otto Benson! He was born this past Wednesday, January 21st. He is sooo precious! You guys will make wonderful parents. Thank you for giving us the honor to be his godparents!!! Picture to come when I get home today...
Well, I noticed they haven't post pics yet, so I'll wait until after they do.

Good-bye, First Trimester, Hello, Second!

Wow... I cannot believe I am already 12 weeks today and beginning my second trimester! My first trimester went fairly well....just a little nausea here and there (nothing a little snack wouldn't take care of). My appetite has been really good from about 5 weeks on. I have gained about 4 1/2 pounds so far. I had Nick take a picture of my belly this morning, and well, there still really isn't one. I think the weight might be going to my butt, though (ahg)! I will post that picture up later today when I get home from work.

Now, going into my second trimester, I have started with this dang headache. I had one from the time I woke yesterday morning until I went to bed last night, and then I woke up with it again today. At this very moment, I think it may be gone! I am awfully forgetful lately, too.

I am going for the first trimester genetic screening (which they do between 10-13 weeks) on this coming Tuesday. Did anyone else have this done...where they draw blood and do an ultrasound? I'll let you all know how it goes!
****UPDATE*****
This is at just over 4 weeks, right after we found out...won't ever see that waist anymore.
Nick took these pictures this morning...12 weeks...not much change.
Maybe a tiny pooch....Baby S, you better still be growing in there!!!
When did any of you guys start showing?

Go STEELERS!!

Beat the Ravens!! Yes, I live in Baltimore and not a Ravens fan. Growing up in the south, I never really followed NFL...more college football. So, I never had a favorite NFL team. UNTIL...I met Nick, and he got me hooked on the Pittsburg Steelers. Nick grew up in western Maryland, and people from there tend to follow the Steelers and not the Ravens. Western Maryland is closer to Pittsburg then to Baltimore. So, her we go, Steelers, here we go!
